Associate Attorney

The Elder Law Practice is looking for an associate attorney. Must be willing and able to practice in the Dalton office as necessary. Must be admitted to the State Bar of Georgia. Must be familiar with Elder Law and Special Needs Law. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with older clients and special needs clients, with a view toward becoming a Certified Elder Law Attorney at the earliest possible date. The practice includes estate planning, Medicaid and special needs planning, as well as contested and uncontested Medicaid, probate and guardianship work. Further, the ideal candidate will be located in North Georgia or will commit to relocating to North Georgia. The Elder Law Practice covers most Georgia Counties north of Metro Atlanta, so court appearances might be required in places ranging to Paulding County to Dade County to Pickens County to Union County and surrounding areas. Although this position is primarily for the Dalton office, we have a second office in Ellijay, Georgia and it might be necessary to meet clients at that location. Candidates who are not interested in committing to serve older adults and special needs individuals in North Georgia in court and out of court need not apply. Administrative Assistant

The Elder Law Practice is looking for an administrative assistant in our Dalton Office. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have strong people skills. Job includes answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, scanning mail and saving it to practice management program, and getting mail sent out each day. Job also include greeting clients and prospective clients, making them feel welcome, assisting with upkeep of office, assisting with maintenance of office supplies. Job also includes assisting Mr. McGuffey with estate planning practice, keeping probate and guardianship cases on track, communicating with courts, other law firms and clients regarding court cases. The ideal candidate will have strong organization skills and substantial prior law firm experience. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
